Tall Ship Young Endeavour ballet for voyage applications open (30/07/08)
Source: Headquarters AAC
DEFGRAM 387/2008
The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme (YEYS) invites friends and family of personnel to visit our website and apply online for voyages from January 2009 to June 2009. Applications for the January 2009 to June 2009 ballot will be accepted from 01 July 2008 until 31 August 2008.
Voyages take place along the eastern seaboard of Australia.
You can apply now at http://www.youngendeavour.gov.au or call 1800 020 444.
YEYS has been operating for over 20 years following Australia’s Bicentenary in 1988 when it was given to Australia by the United Kingdom. And what a brilliant present it’s proved to be! Since then over 10 000 young Australians aged 16–23 have undertaken YEYS’ world acclaimed youth development program, conducted at sea in various voyages.
We offer around 20 voyages each year in Australian waters, (and sometimes overseas too—The Youth Crew sailed to New Zealand in January 2007), in our tallship with a youth crew of 24 and nine specially trained Royal Australian Navy staff. Voyages are for 11 days and depart and arrive in a number of ports along the east coast of Australia including: Sydney, Hobart, Williamstown, Cairns, the Whitsundays, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Mackay and Shute Harbour (Airlie Beach).
How do you get onboard? Apply for our 01 July 2008 to 31 August 2008 Ballot online at the Young Endeavour website http://www.youngendeavour.gov.au or call 1800 020 444.
